Where we are

Lacona is a small village on the south coast of Elba, in a strategic position that is ideal to quick move to other beaches and villages such as Portoferraio, Porto Azzurro, Capoliveri and Marina di Campo. It is a flat area surrounded by mountains. One of the widest gulfs of Elba belongs to Lacona. The main beach of Lacona is the "spiaggia grande" (about 1 km long), which appears from  Il Giardino di Sabbia windows. Other near beaches are Laconella (about 10 min walk from our apartments) and Margidore, as well as countless bays accessible by paths or, in some cases, only by sea. Besides beautiful beaches, Lacona offers a lot of walking paths. You can walk or cycle on both the promontories surrounding Lacona Gulf and on the hills nearby. 

On the beach, at a short distance from our park, there is the Bar-Restaurant-Pizzeria Miramar. Nearby there are small supermarkets, car / bike rent and bazaars.

In Via del Moletto there are the chemist’s, the bakery and several bars and restaurants. You can reach them walking or cycling on the path along Viale dei Golfi, or directly from the beach. 

To reach Elba you have to go to  Piombino Marittima  by train or by car. There there are many ferries belonging to four different shipping companies, that is Toremar, Moby Lines, Blue Navy and Elba Ferries that arrive at Portoferraio harbor. 

In summer you can reach Elba Island also by plane. Italian and foreign airline companies connect  Marina di Campo to many airports (Milano, Lugano, Berne).

Lacona, where IL GIARDINO DI SABBIA is located, can be reached by car from Portoferraio in about 10 minutes.  Just outside Portoferraio follow the signs to Capoliveri-Porto Azzurro, you’ll find a junction with traffic lights, turn right and follow the signs to Lacona.
